Invasive and Non-Invasive Plastic Surgery

A medical procedure that enters (enters) the body, usually by cutting or piercing the skin or inserting an instrument into the body. Liposuction is a minimally invasive surgery that uses a small hollow tube Known as a cannula to remove a fat of local area in the body. The maximum amount of fat that can be safely removed by liposuction is 6-8 pounds (3-4 liters). Increasing the amount of fat removal increases the risk of complications. Non-surgical face lifts are a combination of minimally invasive and non-surgical procedures designed to rejuvenate and refresh the appearance. Compared to surgical face lifts, these techniques do not require a large incision, general anesthesia, or overnight hospitalization. Invasive procedures usually last longer and have more prominent results than non-invasive procedures. However, these surgeries also include local or general anesthesia and a longer recovery period, during which pain, swelling, and bruising can occur. Non-invasive procedures do not use tools that penetrate the skin or physically penetrate the body. Examples include x-rays, standard eye exams, CT scans, MRI, EKG, and halter monitoring. Non-invasive devices include hearing aids, external splints, and casts. Botox is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment option to reduce the appearance of unpleasant lines and wrinkles.
