Oral and maxillofacial surgery specializes in facial reconstruction surgery, facial trauma surgery, oral cavity, head and neck, mouth and jaw, and cosmetic orthopedic surgery. Oral surgery and maxillofacial surgery are specialized areas of surgical and combination treatment of illnesses, dentistry, diagnosis, defects, and injuries. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons, sometimes referred to as oral surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons, are trained in the treatment of 4,444 different diseases and injuries that affect the head, neck, mouth, jaw, and face. Maxillofacial surgery is a advanced level of oral surgery. Oral surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons are doctors and have extensive dental training. Oral and maxillofacial surgery specializes in dentistry, including diagnosis of diseases, injuries and defects that affect both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, jaw, and mouth, surgical and concomitant treatments.
